CV Joint

Constant-velocity joint, often known as the CV joint is used in vehicles to aid in the transmission of power from the transmission to the wheels. When there is less friction, power is transferred at a constant rate of rotation.

In other words, regardless of the steering wheel’s angle, the vehicle’s wheels receive power from the engine smoothly.

Symptoms of a bad CV joints

  1. Grease on the tyre edges – You may have a defective CV joint if you notice grease along the edge of your tire, especially if there is a tear or small split in the rubber. The interior of the rim and wheel may show deeper coloured grease, which indicates a seriously damaged CV joints.
  2. Loud noises when you turn – You most likely have a fractured or worn CV joint if you turn the steering wheel and hear noises like popping or clicking.
  3. Bouncy driving – If you’re on a flat, paved road and your car is still bouncing, you most likely have a bad CV joint.
  4. Vibrations when driving – While you’re driving, a worn or damaged CV joint will rattle. In this situation, CV joints won’t be able to rotate with adequate balance. The vibrations will get more powerful as you accelerate.
  5. Knocking sounds – A CV joint that is worn out from excessive use will make a knocking noise. A front-wheel drive car’s inner joint may be the source of this noise. It might originate from the outer or inner joints for rear-wheel drive. The differential gears are also capable of producing knocking noises.
