Coil Springs

Coil springs, also known as helical springs, are an essential component of a vehicle’s suspension system.

They are designed to absorb and dampen shock, provide stability, and maintain contact between the tires and the road. They are made of steel and are shaped like a coil, hence their name. They are typically located between the wheels and the frame of a vehicle and work by compressing and expanding as the car encounters bumps and uneven surfaces.

Springs come in different sizes and types, each with their own specific characteristics. Some are designed to be stiffer, providing a firmer ride and better handling for sports cars. Others are designed to be softer, providing a more comfortable ride for luxury cars. Coil springs also play an essential role in maintaining proper tire alignment.

It’s important to note that springs can wear out over time and eventually need to be replaced. Signs that coil springs may need to be replaced include a noticeable drop in ride height, uneven tire wear, and a rough ride.
