A car’s water pump is an essential component of the vehicle’s cooling system. Its purpose is to circulate coolant through the engine block and radiator to keep the engine at the proper operating temperature.
The pump is driven by a belt that is connected to the engine’s crankshaft. As the engine runs, the belt turns the pump, which in turn pumps coolant through the engine and radiator. The coolant then returns to the pump to be recirculated.
